We mark a trail, heat the tubs, and leave the porch light off. The rest is weather.
Year-round
Two tubs sit on the west deck, fed by a well that comes up cold and is heated in a copper coil. Reserve a slot with the desk — evenings fill first. Robes in the locker. Towels that actually dry you. In winter the steam holds in the pines.
June – October
We keep a simple map at the desk. The trail climbs through lodgepole, then opens onto a lake that stills in the morning. Pack-outs are provided: bread, fruit, a thermos. Snow can linger in the trees into July. Ask before you go.
Clear nights
Carson Pass sits well above the valley haze. On a new moon the Milky Way is ordinary, not a special event. We leave two blankets on the north bench after dinner. The porch light is the only one we keep on. Phones work poorly. That is the point.
